Our Mystery Relative

  I. What's wrong with Rob anyway?
I apologize if you have felt I have been leading you on a wild goose chase, withholding vital information, and taunting you with an unsolvable puzzle. It was not done in spite, but with a desire to share some of the excitement and mystery that comes with sifting through the past and trying to make some sense of that past with the barest of clues.

In the two years or so that I have become a bit "obsessive" about researching our family's past, it has been my pleasure to find tantalizing bits and pieces of family history--a photo, a bit of information, another family member engaged in the same pursuit who generously shares the information and artifacts they have gathered--and I wanted to share this material with other family members and anyone else who might be interested.

So, for this exercise in trying to identify the "mystery person," I have attempted to share with all of you some of the excitement--and frustration--that goes with this territory. My hope is that you have enjoyed this exercise in genealogical detective work, attempted to figure out who the person was, and tried to determine how they fit into your larger family--the very thing anyone captivated by family genealogy research does--although they may do it a bit more obsessively than you did in this little exercise.
